Rosa Rosal- The Movie Villainess who is really an angel in real life
She is the Famas Best Actress in 1955.
Rosa Rosal
Excerpt from Inquirer.
It took a sick boy to lead movie icon Rosa Rosal to a life of unconditional volunteer service.
Rosal can no longer remember the boy’s name, who was in a coma when the budding actress first saw him in the emergency ward of the Philippine General Hospital one day in 1948.
“He was comatose for three days. I kept on coming back. I did not know what a coma was. I had no idea what caused it. I found out that he fell from a five-story building and he was bleeding inside. He was hemorrhaging,” Rosal said in Filipino.
When the actress, then only 17, learned that the boy needed a neurologist, she called up a friend, Dr. Victor Reyes, a neurosurgeon, who readily obliged and examined the boy. Reyes said the boy needed a blood transfusion.
They got the blood and an operation was performed immediately. The boy was saved.
That incident changed Rosal’s life. “It was that boy that started it. It was then that I saw how blood, no matter how small a drop, can give life.”
